Campus Recreation - Comments & Suggestions

  • New Attire Policy

CommentI am writing you today as a student who is sharing a growing discontent with attire in the student rec center.

Response:  Campus Recreation has revised our Attire Policy for all activity areas in both the SRF and SFC:

The following clothing/attire is NOT permitted in Campus Recreation activity areas:
    ·   Street clothes of any kind.
    ·   Clothing exposing the chest, abdomen, and/or side areas.
    ·   Altered clothing with the exception of removing sleeves, no farther than the outside of the shoulder seam.
The staff has the right to determine if clothing meets facility requirements.

  • Swimsuit Dryer in Men's Locker Room

The swimsuit dryer in the men's locker room is not working.

We are working with our electrician and the equipment manufacturer to get our "Suitmate" either repaired or replaced ASAP.  We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this equipment being out of order.

  • New Drain Covers in Pool & Spa

The new drain covers may be a tripping hazard as people walk in the pool and spa.  Is there anything that can be done about this?

In order for our pool and spa to be compliant with the Federal VGB Act, we had to install new drain grates/covers that are raised to a higher elevation than the surface.  We know these drain covers may take some getting used to as our patrons navigate around the pool and spa, but it's a requirement for us to have these drain grates in order to keep our operating license.

  • Summer Facility Hours - Start Date

Why did the Campus Recreation facilities begin summer hours (shorter hours) before exam week?

We have been moving to summer hours the weekend before finals week for several years now.  This decision was made by the Campus Recreation management staff based on very low usage numbers when the faciltiies maintained regular academic year hours during this time.

  • Blood Pressure Services

Have electronic blood pressure cuffs available for members.
