  • Cleaning Schedule for the Spa at the SRF

    I respectfully request for the spa to be cleaned at night time.  In the morning there are more people than myself that would love to use it between 7:30 and 9:00am before going to work.

    Thank you for your suggestion and we understand many of our students and members enjoy the use of our spa.  Unfortunately, the spa needs to be cleaned three times per week due to its high volume usage, and this work is performed first thing in the morning for a couple of reasons.  The usage numbers in the spa are much greater in the afternoon and evening hours when compared to the early morning hours, and our Operating Engineers who clean the spa are not available to do this work late at night after we close.  The spa is available for our early morning users on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

    Have the visitor cards say ALUMNI instead of VISITOR.  It would make it so much more personal since alumni spent all those years at UIC - it would be a really nice touch.

    Unfortunately, this is not possible.  The Visitor Card we use for all our non UIC Fac/Staff members is an official iCard created and issued by iCard Services.  "Alumni" is not an iCard template, so we use the Visitor template for all non-Fac/Staff members (Alumni, Spouse/DP, Community, IMD, Dependent, etc.).

  • Compliments to the SFC Staff

    I wanted you to know how happy we've been with your staff on Saturday mornings.  The building's been open promptly for us to get in.  The lifeguards have been very professional and supportive.  They've helped us take out and put in the lane lines so we could run our class in widths.  We know it's not an easy task to move lane lines, so we appreciate the extra effort so our class could be more effective.

  • Shortage of Daily Lockers at the SRF

    During peak times of the Academic Year, there seems to be a shortage of daily lockers (larger lockers with digi-locks), especially in the men's locker room at the SRF.

    We are aware of this problem, and we hope to minimize or eliminate this inconvenience in the upcoming fiscal year.  In order to do this, we have to take out several units of rental lockers (smaller size) and replace them with the larger daily lockers; however, this is very costly and we need to plan and budget for this type of project.  We hope to get this done in the next fiscal year if possible.  In the meantime, please consider renting a locker in order to minimize the number of items one needs to put in the daily lockers.  If everyone only uses one daily locker, it will help minimize this inconvenience.  Thanks again for your patience.

  • Showers at the SRF

    Lately I have been finding more and more of the showers in the men's locker room in SRF difficult or impossible to adjust. A couple only seem to put out scalding water, and others have little or no adjustment available in the control.

    Repsonse

    We have recently received similar comments regarding the showers in the women's locker room at the SRF as well.  We are working with the university plumbers to get this situation resolved.  We know this is very frustrating for our patrons and we appreciate your patience as we get this problem resolved ASAP.
