The School of Art + Design's first All-School Alumni Reunion will be Saturday, June 8, 2013, on campus. The event will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Art + Design Building, the Link Gallery, and the Krannert Art Museum. Registration is now open at the reunion website at art.illinois.edu/reunion.

Julia Kellman, Associate Professor Emerita of the School of Art and Design, College of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been chosen by the National Art Education Associations board of directors to receive the Council for Exceptional Children and Very Special Arts Beverly Levett Gerber Special Needs Lifetime Achievement Award for 2013. The award recognizes "an NAEA/SNAE member whose career of outstanding achievement and service has made a unique and lasting impact on art education for students with special needs."

Conrad Bakker named University Scholar

Associate Professor Conrad Bakker has been selected as a 2012-2013 University Scholar. Professor Bakker has taught at the School of Art + Design since 2001. The University Scholars program provides honors outstanding midcareer faculty with $10,000 a year for three years to enhance their scholarly work.

Laurie Hogin wins campus teaching honors

Laurie Hogin, professor of painting, was honored with the 2012 campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. This highly competitive award is given to faculty who have demonstrated sustained excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching on the Urbana campus and have made significant contributions to undergraduate learning beyond classroom instruction.

Art + Design faculty and staff win College awards

Four Art + Design employees won 2012 College of Fine and Applied awards. Linda Robbennolt, associate professor of photography, won the Faculty Award for Excellence for Teaching; Jennifer Greenhill, assistant professor of art history, won the Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, and Oscar Vazquez, associate professor of art history, won the Faculty Award for Excellence in Service. Mark Avery, coordinator of undergraduate academic affairs, won the College's Academic Professional Award for Excellence.
