Irfan Ahmad chairs 26th annual APSENA Conference
On October 17-18, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign hosted the 26th annual conference of The Association of Pakistani Scientists and Engineers in North America (APSENA) at the I-Hotel and Conference Center.
APSENA, since its inception in 1983 has worked toward developing intellectual, scientific, and academic linkages between Pakistan and the U.S. This conference will focus on issues of critical relevance for Pakistan in particular and the world in general, as it is themed: Water: Lifeline for Energy and Health.

New electrical engineering summer camp component added to G.A.M.E.S.
An electrical engineering component will be added to the Girls Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science, of G.A.M.E.S. camp, sponsored by Women in Engineering.

Goddard recipient of Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers
President Obama today named 100 beginning researchers as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on young professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. The recipient scientists and engineers will receive their awards in the Fall at a White House ceremony.

Snodgrass wins Best Student Paper Award at CSMANTECH
ECE graduate student William Snodgrass was recognized with the Best Student Paper Award at the Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology Conference (CS MANTECH). Snodgrass received the award at the 2009 conference in Tampa, Florida in late May.
