Dear Members of the Campus Community:
New Student Convocation scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Memorial Stadium has been cancelled due to anticipated inclement weather.
All residence hall dining locations will be open for lunch, as usual. Students who live in private certified housing that are not serving lunch because of Convocation may eat any University Housing dining hall at no charge to them by showing their I-Card.
The Guinness world record attempt will proceed at the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building during the lunch period.
Students should still attend their college receptions this afternoon. Please refer to the New Student Programs Welcome Days website for more information. The site is at:
The Illinois Sights and Sounds program on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium is still scheduled, but also is subject to tomorrow evening’s weather conditions.

Three major campus street projects will take place this summer, necessitating closures and detours for motorized vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians. Work on Sixth Street, from Gregory Drive to Armory Avenue, will begin immediately following Commencement Weekend on Monday (May 19). The Sixth Street project will feature pavement reconstruction, bike lane additions and general repairs.

McKinley Health Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana has diagnosed mumps in about a dozen students since their return to studies following spring break. This cluster of infections appears to be part of a widespread emergence of the mumps virus throughout the Midwest.
