Don't be afraid to explore your options throughout your time here at U of I. Just because you are a Junior or Senior does not mean that it is too late to join an organization that you are really passionate about. Also, do not feel pressure to do a million things on this campus. Rather concentrate on a handful of clubs, issues or other things to which you are committed.

Global Studies is an interdisciplinary major that allows students to pursue a thematic area from different angles. It allows you to mold your education, something that very few majors on campus offer. Take advantage of this opportunity and craft your major around the subjects that interest you and the professional fields that interest you. You can do this with the help of the GS advisors. They will help you pursue your interests. Having done this myself, I cannot stress the satisfaction that comes from exploring the topics that interest you from different angles.

I also think it's important to stay busy during the summers! Plan your summers well in advance, and take advantage of any internship opportunities available.
