GALE SUMMERFIELD, EXPERT ON WOMEN IN DEVELOPING NATIONS

Gale Summerfield is a director of the Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Program at Illinois, and a professor of human and community development. She was interviewed by social sciences editor Craig Chamberlain and addressed that women were aspiring to the highest positions in many societies, but they still lacked the access they needed to transform some developing nations.

Sustainable Biofuels and Human Security

Summer 2009 issue of Swords and Ploughshares The Program in Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security (ACDIS) in cooperation with the Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Program (WGGP) University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.This collection addresses the social and sustainablity dimensions of the biofuel debates, including links between biofuels and food price violatility, poverty, and direct and indirect changes in land use.

Global Lens 2009 film series
