Child Care Assistant
Live-in Childcare Provider Needed
We are seeking a single adult to live in our home and provide care for our 6-year-old high-functioning autistic son. Duties include getting our child ready for school and on the bus at 7:35am and meeting his bus afterschool at 3:15pm. The caregiver will have free time during school hours. Our son will also require afterschool care until bedtime, including transportation to and from some extra-curricular activities. All of these duties will be required on average 5 days a week. Every other weekend some care will be required. The successful candidate must be loving, patient, trustworthy, dependable and well-organized. Applicants pursuing an education or psychology (or other related) degree or with experience caring for children on the autism spectrum are preferred. Upon hire, the caregiver will be provided with full-time living accommodations- his/her own room and bathroom in our home just 15 minutes from UIS. The caregiver will also have the option to care for our child during family travel (over vacation periods), in which case the caregiver will be awarded an unlimited standby airline travel pass, which will also be available for personal use while off-duty. We are looking to hire someone by August 1 and hope to maintain a long-term arrangement. If interested, please e-mail your resume and three letters of recommendation, along with any questions, to Jaclyn at tyjac.peterson@comcast.net. We will then contact you for an interview. Thank you.
