UIS serves as host

Author: Richard D. Ringeisen

Published Date:June 3, 2010

Later this week, UIS will be hosting the 10th Annual State Politics and Policy Conference here on campus.  We will welcome over 180 scholars from around the country. UIS is honored to be hosting this event, which has previously been hosted by Duke and North Carolina-Chapel Hill Universities, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Arizona, among other top-notch universities.

For more than a year, Dr. Chris Mooney and Barbara Ferrara have been working to ensure that UIS is ready to greet guests from all around the country with not only an outstanding slate of sessions, but several special events.

The two-day conference is co-sponsored by UIS College of Public Affairs and Administration and Center for State Policy & Leadership along with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs.

Visit the SPPC website, www.sppc2010.org to view a copy of the program.   Feel free to drop into any of the sessions on Friday or Saturday.  You are also welcome to attend the kickoff event at the Old State Capitol on this evening.

This is a great opportunity for UIS to showcase all this campus has to offer.    Many of these participants will be visiting UIS as well as Springfield for the first time.   Let's, when possible, welcome our guests to campus with a helping hand as they cross your path over the next two days.

Thanks for being a great host!
