Try the Quad Cam

Ask an Illinois alumnus to name their favorite places on campus, and the Main Quad will be near the top of almost every list. Now Illinois has given alumni - and everyone else in the world - the chance to watch current students play, study, or just walk to class on our Quad. It's like an instant visit to campus. Give it a try!

Ask-A-Librarian

"Ask A Librarian" provides quick and easy access to library services in a world where searching for relevant information can be a cumbersome task. Staffed by reference librarians and graduate assistants, interactive reference services are offered through online tools such as Instant Messaging, chat, and e-mail. Individuals also may telephone or stop by for assistance. "Ask A Librarian" is available to all faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Journ students win excellence award

Ten students, most undergraduates, in professor Nancy Benson's international reporting course went to China last year to produce a two-hour radio documentary, "China: Beyond the Great Wall." Now the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) has awarded that documentary its Mark of Excellence Award in the Radio In-Depth reporting category for 2007. SPJ's press release announcing the awards quoted Neil Ralston, its Vice President for Campus Chapters: “I encourage media executives who are looking for the next wave of high-quality journalists to pay attention to the winners of SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Awards. These young men and women represent some of the best that journalism programs have to offer, and we’re proud to be able to honor them at the national level.”

Listen to the documentary and check out the students' blogs from the trip.
