With the debut of the new Illinois Integrated Veterinary Professional Curriculum, the Class of 2013 will spend the first eight weeks of the program engaged in the daily activities of clinical service areas such as anesthesiology, clinical toxicology/pharmacology, poultry medicine, dermatology, and shelter medicine.
They’ll also train in our new Clinical Skills Learning Center. There, with guidance from experienced veterinary technicians, students will use real equipment and realistic animal models to practice basic medical, surgical, diagnostic, and imaging techniques, learn animal restraint, and build a host of other skills.

The remainder of the first year of the new curriculum provides students with a solid foundation in biological structure and function through courses that integrate basic science material with clinically relevant modules. An overview of the four-year curriculum can be found online
The goal throughout is to give students a solid foundation in the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes they’ll need as new graduates.
