Flexible, foldable implant maps brain activity during seizures

Scientists have designed an ultrathin implant carrying a dense array of sensors to record the electrical activities of the brain during a seizure. John Rogers and colleagues built a new array that fits 360 sensors in that same 1 square centimeter amount of space. They reduced the amount of wiring drastically by integrating electronics and silicon transistors into the array itself.

May 2011 B.S. graduates Jon Naber, Ehsan Noursalehi, and Adam Booher (MechSE) are the U.S. finalists for the James Dyson Award. The James Dyson Award is an international student design award running in 18 countries. Its run by the James Dyson Foundation, James Dysons charitable trust, as part of its mission to encourage the next generation of design engineers to be creative, challenge and invent.
