Facilities Preview

November 17, 2009 -- The Springfield District 186 school board is in favor of a facilities overhaul, but members are split over how exactly to fund the $231 million plan. The board voted 5-2 last night in support of the so-called Option B. The proposal involves building a new Springfield High School on the city's west side, rebuilding Lanphier at its current site, and extensively renovating Southeast. The current Springfield High School would be converted into a magnet school. A finance committee report indicates the plan could only be funded with a property tax increase.PC Link | Mac Link
