APSA Political Economy Section awards Olson dissertation prize to Tiberiu Dragu

The Political Economy section of the American Political Science Association has announced that the winner of the 2011 Mancur Olson Award for the best dissertation completed and accepted in the previous two years is Illinois political science professor Tiberiu Dragu, for his dissertation "Essays on Executive Power" completed at Stanford University in 2009.

The Institute of International Education has announced the winners of the coming year's Gilman Scholarships. Among them are two UIUC political science undergraduates: Karolina Wasiniewska, a senior, who will spend the fall of 2011 at the Instituto San Joaquin de Flores in Costa Rica, and Marcin Michniowski, a sophomore also majoring in East Asian languages and cultures, who will spend the 2011–2012 school year in Japan.
