        <description>Nature of Position
The Assistant Dean of Students (Director of New Student Programs) is a full-time academic professional staff member in the New Student Programs Office, a unit of the Office of the Dean of Students.  The Assistant Dean oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of orientation programs for new students and their families.  The Assistant Dean of Students/Director of New Student Programs reports to an Associate Dean of Students. 

Duties and Responsibilities
1.Oversee the reservation confirmation process for the more than 17,000 new students and their families that attend the summer, fall and spring registration programs.
2.Oversee the development and maintenance of the New Student Programs website.
3.Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of various orientation programs for new freshman and transfer students. 
4.Supervise the professional staff in the New Student Programs Office.
5.Prepare and monitor the New Student Programs program budget.
6.Oversee the data functions related to the New Student Programs scheduling and payment functions. 
7.Prepare and maintain appropriate periodic reports.
8.Other duties as assigned (including campus committees).

3.Ability to organize a wide range of diverse tasks efficiently and effectively.
4.Ability to plan, develop, implement and assess complex program.
5.Ability to supervise professional staff.
6.Capable of establishing and maintaining effective, cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and relating to the diverse publics participating in orientation.

Qualifications
1.Masters Degree in counseling, higher education, student personnel, or related field is required.  Successful candidates will have five years professional work experience in student affairs.
2.Demonstrated staff training and supervision experience.
3.Demonstrated experience in program development and delivery.

Appointment Type - Regular twelve month, 100% academic professional appointment

Salary - Commensurate with experience

Proposed Starting Date  -  As soon as possible after the closing date.
