Lincoln Legacy Lecture 2009
"Lincoln and the Environment" is the theme of the 2009 Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series. Dr. Mark Fiege, Associate Professor of History at Colorado State University Ft. Collins, will present a lecture titled "Land of Lincoln: Environmental History and the 16th President." The event will be held October 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium at UIS, and is free and open to the public. Dr. Michael Burlingame, newly-appointed Naomi B. Lynn Distinguished Chair in Lincoln Studies at UIS, will make opening remarks and serve as moderator. This years event is presented by the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership in partnership with the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Illinois State Museum, and the Illinois State Library. Cosponsors include the Engaged Citizenship (ECCE) Speakers Series, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Public Affairs and Administration, and WUIS Public Radio.
