My mother's Danish, but she has yet to teach any of her children how to pronounce "hygge," which she says means "comfortable happiness" or "happiness because one is comfortable and content." In any case, I'm not feeling the hygge right now.

My vote is for "fascism" or "alt-right." Lots of people are looking up these terms, and everyone needs to know what these terms really mean. Highlighting these as the awful movements of this awful year would help spread knowledge about the dangers we face in 2017 and beyond.
