Are you passionate about the environment? Does getting wet and dirty working with a group of like-minded people to restore a portion of the Chicago River sound like fun?
Urban Rivers, a non-profit organization (www.UrbanRiv.org) started by NRES alumni Josh Yellin, is looking for volunteers on June 10th and 11th to prepare and plant floating islands for installation in the Chicago River as part of a plan to remediate 600 linear feet of shoreline in 2017, and they need your help!
Date: June 10th and 11th
Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Location: Kayak Chicago; 1501 N. Magnolia Ave., Chicago, Illinois, 60642
Join the volunteer efforts this weekend to improve the wildlife habitat and get a look at what has grown out of Josh’s capstone project! There are many research questions left unanswered and capstone ideas yet to be explored in affiliation with this effort – one could be yours! Come see what it’s all about, how successful the effort has become, and where you might fit in – as a volunteer or as an NRES M. S. capstone student.
