Again, thank you for the awesome attendance at last night's meeting. We had 32 students join in and share information about their capstone projects.
We want to thank Josh Yellin (alum - class of 2014) for sharing information about opportunities for our students to conduct research on the Chicago River as part of the Urban Rivers organization. If you have questions for Josh, you can contact him at josh.yellin@gmail.com or via the Urban River's website: urbanriv.org.
For those of you unable to attend last night's presentation, you can access the recording by going to:

As a result of the feedback we received from this summer's writers' workshop we have several students who would like to pair up with others to provide and receive peer review of writing. If you are interested in finding another student to partner with, or a small group to partner with, please send me an email and I will help facilitate the collaboration.
Also as a result of the summer workshops, we had several requests for a more formal monthly webinar that would serve not only an accountability function, but also as a means of feedback on your project. We are considering allowing attendance at this "monthly" function to serve in lieu of writing monthly goals/accomplishments via the Open Learning site. If you think you may be interested in this as an option, please let me know as well. If we can coordinate availability of those who are interested and develop some guidelines for participation, Piper and I will consider this option. But, we must hear from you... are you interested in a monthly meeting whereby you would convey your progress in lieu of the open learning goals and objectives? (This would be an optional choice and we would continue to make the Open Learning - Capstone Progress the primary source for reporting your progress).
The College of ACES is restricting the use of Grammarly. Therefore, if you are interested in using Grammarly to edit your writing in the 2017 - 2018 school year, please send me your name and I will add it to the NRES list of students requesting Grammarly access.
Lastly, don't forget the November 4th Online Student's On-Campus event! Come join the fun!!! Meet other online students in person, have lunch with the faculty, learn about University resources, hear from a panel of recent graduates about tips for succeeding in the online program. To RSVP your attendance, go to: https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/5497908
We hope you have a fabulous fall semester and we hope to hear from each of you often!
