    Join University of Illinois students for the Organizing Change Retreat, a two-day, off-campus experience at the beautiful Lake Williamson Retreat Center. Transportation, lodging, and food are provided.

     

    This free, interactive retreat is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. You will learn practical concepts and skills about social change, identify what issues are important to you, network with fellow students, and consider how social change relates to your academics and future careers. Whether you are new to the exploration of social justice or are a seasoned activist, the Organizing Change Retreat welcomes you!   • FACULTY: CAS Release Time Appointment Application Open

    Each year, the tenured and untenured University of Illinois faculty are invited to submit scholarly or creative proposals for consideration by the Center’s permanent Professors. Faculty members with winning proposals are appointed Associates and Fellows and awarded one semester of release time to pursue their projects in the coming academic year.

    Applications are currently open and will close October 3, 2017 for 2018-19 AY appointments.

    Registration has just opened for the third annual Research Live! competition for graduate students. We need more arts and humanities participants! 

    Now in its third year, Research Live! asks graduate students from all disciplines to hone their presentation skills and highlight their work by giving a compelling 3-minute, 2-slide talk for a general audience.

  • Scholarships for FAA Students Participating in a New Program

    Through a partnership between the College of Fine and Applied Arts and the College of Business, a new certificate program will be made available to a limited number of current FAA students. Accepted students will have the opportunity to complete the 12-credit Innovation: From Creativity to Entrepreneurship specialization from the College of Business' iMBA program.

     

  • School of Music Paid Social Media Internship

    The School of Music seeks a motivated and creative student to assist in its marketing to prospective students. Together with the Office of Admissions and Public Engagement, the Social Media Intern will help develop and execute social media campaigns specifically for the School of Music. The marketing intern will be responsible for contributing unique content on behalf of the School of Music for the following social media sites, at minimum: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The position will require 6 hours of work per week and is a great opportunity to practice marketing, arts advocacy, and administration skills.     I am writing to let you know about our Thesis Tools workshop series. This fall, we will offer 3 workshops aimed at assisting graduate students during the thesis process. These workshops include:

    The Patent Process and Your ThesisManaging Your Thesis DataThesis Format Review and Deposit

    Workshop Poster: I have attached a digital copy of our workshop poster, which you can forward to students in your program. If you would like a full-sized, color hardcopy to post in your department, please let me know and we will deliver one to you.

    Customized Workshops: We are happy to provide customized workshops that can be requested by departments, faculty, and student groups. These programs cover topics including an introduction to the thesis process, thesis format review, and thesis deposit. We can also work with you to adapt any workshop topic to meet your needs.
