The investigative powers of the grand jury will play an important role in former FBI director and current special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, said Andrew D. Leipold, the Edwin M. Adams Professor of Law at the University of Illinois and an expert on criminal law and the judicial process.
In a recent interview with the Illinois News Bureau, Leipold, who also is the director of the Program in Criminal Law and Procedure at Illinois, spoke about the use of grand juries in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
