The Illinois MBA program is hosting the Second Annual Scholarship Case Competition on Friday, March 9, 2012. Prospective students who have completed their application to the Illinois MBA full-time program are eligible to participate in the event. The winner of the Scholarship Case Competition will receive a full scholarship to Illinois!
In a case competition, you will compete with others to come up with the best solution to a business problem. Case competition problems are usually based on actual situations occurring at real organizations. The case will typically provide background information on the company and industry, description of a specific problem or decision point and some quantitative data (financial statements, market research data, copies of internal memos, etc) to facilitate the decision making process.
In the Illinois Scholarship Case Competition, you will be evaluated based on your:
• Understanding of the main issue of the case
• Ability to analyze the supporting exhibits and draw meaningful conclusions from the data
• Ability to clearly articulate your conclusions and reasoning behind them
• Ability to accurately and articulately answer questions from the judges
Illinois MBA faculty and alumni will serve as judges for the competition. To learn more about the event, please visit the Scholarship Case Competition page on our website.
We hope students will take advantage of the opportunity to practice these skills by participating in the Scholarship Case Competition. As a reminder, you must submit your application to the full-time program by January 15, 2012 to be eligible to participate.
As always, please contact us with any questions.
