  • DBC Dinner

The DBC (Dean's Business Council) hosted a dinner last Thursday that I attended. It was an awesome opportunity that the College provided students to network with successful alumni.

  • My First Apartment

After living in a public dorm and my sorority house each for a year, I had no idea what to expect when moving into my first apartment. All I could think of was the freedom I would finally have of living on my own. However, I failed to realize the amount of responsibility that also comes with that new found freedom. Never have I washed so many dishes, dusted countless countertops, and consistently cleaned a bathroom in my entire life! I have come to appreciate my parens much more because of all they have done for me. I never realized how much they spoiled me as a kid. Now don't get me wrong, living in an apartment is amazing! I have three roommates who have become my little family here on campus. I have my own room with a full size bed, a step up from my twin at home; I can choose what I want to make for dinner each night; and I have met so many new people. Although living in an apartment can be stressful at times, it is something I think all students should experience. I feel I have grown up in the three months I have been living on my own. I have learned so much more about myself and have had such an amazing time along the way!

  • Concerts at U of I

The University of Illinois is a school with top tier academics, outstanding student organizations, and nationally ranked athletic teams. What more could we have to attract such great students? Amazing concerts every month! We have already seen some incredible artists on campus this semester, and the best are yet to come (in my opinion). Last weekend, Death Cab for Cutie graced the stage of Assembly Hall on Saturday night and Lupe Fiasco performed Sunday night. Girl Talk will be here in two weeks as part of the Victoria's Secret Fighting Illini Fest. The range of artists and other performers that come to Champaign is endless. I personally enjoy both hip hop and country music, strange combination I know, but performers of both genres have been well represented Assembly Hall. In the past few years I have been on campus, the best concerts in my opinion have been Jay-Z, Wiz Khalifa, and Rascal Flatts. I am most excited though for Drake to perform on November 13th. That weekend is Dad's Weekend here on campus. I could not ask for a better weekend full of hockey, volleyball and football games, tailgating, and spending time with my dad, culminating with what I hope to be a concert that tops my list.

  • Homecoming!

This past week Green Street was painted Orange and Blue, there was a big parade through Champaign-Urbana and all the proud alumni were back on campus to watch the Illini destroy Northwestern at Memorial Stadium.
