  • SpeakUp! - Engineering Ambassadors' Speaking Competition

    Do you want a chance to express yourself? Do you encourage sustainability? Speech is powerful. Here is a chance for you to expand your communication skills and win fabulous prizes.

    The Speaking Competition is hosted by the University of Illinois Engineering Ambassadors, sponsored by Monsanto.

    An info session is happening Tonight (February 14th) at 5:30pm in 106B1 EH.

    Theme: Environment, Conservation, Sustainability
    All STEM (Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics) Majors welcome.
    Prizes of $200, $100, $50 will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, respectively.
    Accepted contestants will be REQUIRED to attend a public speaking workshop on Sunday March 5th from 9am - 5pm.

  • Spring 2017 Conference Travel Grant Competition

    Need funding to present your work at a conference?

    The campus-wide Illinois Office of Undergraduate  Research (OUR) provides awards up to $350 for undergraduate students to travel to professional conferences to present their research posters and/or papers. These awards are meant for students who will present their work.

    Competition Deadlines

    Spring 2017
    Applications due: March 6 at 11:59PM

    Fall 2017
    Application period: September 6 - October 16, 2017

    Eligibiilty

    - Students must be in good academic standing during the term the award is received
    - Students graduating in December can apply for and may receive an ward for travel during the following spring semester
    - Students may only receive one Conference Travel Grant Award per academic year
    - Students must include in the application: conference dates and location, evidence that conference participation has been confirmed, itemized estimated expenses (or actual expenses for recently completed travel), and possible (or actual) support from mentors and departments

    The campus-wide Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is now accepting submissions for the 2017 Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) which will be on April 27, 2017. You may submit an abstract or title that has not been finalized.

  • NSF REU on the Internet of Things at UCF

    The Computer Science Department at the University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL) will hold a 10-week 2017 Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) on the Internet of Things. REU students will be trained in research-based theory and applications of the technologies used in this fast-moving interdisciplinary field. The REU students will join well-established research groups under the close supervision of faculty with expertise in security, privacy, data analytics, healthcare simulations, and social computing.

    REU Program Dates: May 22 - July 28, 2017

    Eligibility

    Sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduates
    Majors: computer science, computer, electrical, mechanical engineering and information technology
    Must be US citizens or permanent residents
    Minimum overall GPA of 2.7

    Program Benefits

    $5000 stipend
    $600 travel allowance
    On-campus housing
    Meal allowance

  • BP Early Engagement Programs

    Applications for early engagement programs with BP are currently open and being accepted through March 16, 2017.  Each program application requires completion of a virtual interview.  To successfully prepare applicants for virtual interviews, BP will host a Lunch and Learn on February 2, 2017.

  • Undergraduate Research Symposium 2017 - Now accepting student submissions

    The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is now accepting submissions for the 2017 Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS), set for Thursday, April 27. The URS is the signature event of Undergraduate Research Week (April 23-29), and brings together students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, as well as corporate partners and sponsors, to learn more about undergraduate research and its potential to change the world.     The National and International Scholarships Program is offering a two-day event about the Harry S. Truman Scholarship which offers $30,000 towards graduate study in public service fields.  Only Juniors are eligible for the award.
