Want to develop Android-based mobile applications? This non-credit course may be right for you. This introductory class will provide students with the skills required to develop Android-based mobile applications. The class will include an instructor-led, hands-on introduction to the Android development environment including the creation of simple but functional Android mobile applications. The topics covered include development tools, user interface creation and implementation, design patterns, persistent storage, database integration and information retrieval using webservices.

Prerequisite: Java and experience with object oriented programming. This course DOES NOT require additional purchases such as an Android device or developer license.

Instructor: William Seemann, Software Engineer for Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS). William has several years of Android development experience and actively maintains a handful of open source Android applications and libraries. He recently developed the Android version of UI Dining, the first official University of Illinois mobile dining application. 

When/Where: 8 weeks starting Wednesday, Feb. 26  from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. (No class March 26); EnterpriseWorks Conference Room 130 (60 Hazelwood Drive, Champaign)
