Internship Application

WUIS is currently looking for Interns in the following areas:

News:
Working with an intern coordinator, the intern will be responsible for various tasks ranging from checking for daily press releases and doing story research to attending press conferences, gathering audio, rewriting stories to working on long-term assignments that can appear online and potentially be broadcast on WUIS.

Programming/Productions:
This intern will also be responsible for a variety of weekly tasks assisting the program director with almost all aspects of programming WUIS. Such tasks may include contact with listeners, producing podcasts, working with the station automation system and public radio system-wide network (Content Depot), and off-air production work with the potential of on-air broadcast. This intern will likely work in conjunction with the Web Intern(s).

New Media:

The New Media intern will learn the various systems which WUIS uses to maintain wuis.org and will be at the disposal of all departments to update and maintain the station website. He/She will be asked for creative input for expanding the station’s new media development. This intern will likely work in conjunction with both the Programming Intern(s) and the Marketing Intern(s).

Marketing/Promotions:
The primary function of this intern is to handle detailed planning of promotional and stewardship events, including their execution and strategic evaluation. It will also include community contact, media production, public relations, new media development and database management. This intern will likely work in conjunction with the New Media Intern(s) and Programming Intern(s).

Basic Qualifications:
* Appreciation and understanding of public media.
* Demonstrated writing and communication skills.
* additional qualifications may apply for certain departmental internships.
