About your event

You don't have to know all the details of your event yet, but it will help us to get an idea of what you're thinking. Your selections here do NOT commit you to anything and an Illini Fighting Hunger Liaison will be in touch to help you select the best options for your organization.

Illini Fighting Hunger projects deliberately focus on needs of the local community. For projects with few volunteers area, we recommend rice, bean, pasta, or oatmeal packaging projects. For larger projects, we recommend casserole packaging.

The length of a meal-packaging event depends on the number of volunteers participating and the target number of meals being packaged (i.e. the size of your budget or the amount you're going to fund raise). Illini Fighting Hunger Liaisons will help you work out different scenarios, but give us some estimates below. For an in-depth explanation of cost, volunteer load and total meals packaged, check out What will our event cost, how many volunteers can participate, and how many meals will we package?

In most cases, it is necessary for you - the host organization - to cover the cost of the supplies your project packages. This is a project model that has worked very well since Illini Fighting Hunger was launched in 2012. We do realize that this precludes some small groups and groups without a lot of funding, from hosting their own project. However, we are always looking for creative ways to make projects possible, and we can look for opportunities to subsidize the cost of your project, or we can give you some recommendations for fundraising. So even if you're not sure about funding, we encourage you to submit this form and we'll be happy to talk through all of your options!
