Upcoming Off-Campus Volunteer Opportunities

The Three Spinners Community Resource Center provides refugees, immigrants, newcomers, and all members of the community with support and advocacy services when they are faced with the difficult task of starting their lives over in a new country and culture. Right now we really just need a smiling face to be in the store to greet people and maybe help them find what they're looking for or help keep things organized and tidy. You don't need any special skills or knowledge. One of us will be there with you, at least the first time you're there.

Volunteer shifts are Monday-Friday, 11-2 from now through August 18th. If you have any questions, check out their website here or email contact@threespinners.org for more information!

Location: University YMCA, Room K4 (lower level), 1001 S. Wright St. Champaign, IL 61820

We are in desperate need of shoppers for our clients at both the locations this summer. We have shifts on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings. This is a great time for high school students to log needed service hours or volunteer to prepare for college applications.

Eastern Illinois Foodbank and the Champaign Park District are partnering in summer 2017 to bring food distributions to block parties being held in various neighborhoods across Champaign-Urbana. Volunteers are needed to help set up the area (prepare food on tables and pallets for distribution), help clients “shop” and clean up at the end of the distribution.  EIF staff will lead the distribution and will provide an orientation to volunteers upon arrival.  Volunteers are needed from 4:30-7pm (or until food runs out).  To ensure those visiting the food distributions receive the assistance they need, we ask that volunteers stay for the entire distribution. This volunteer project requires volunteers to lift, bend and stand during distribution preparation and throughout the distribution period.
