New Open Computing Lab & Updated Classrooms

Our open computing lab has been renovated and relocated in FLB G8d. It provides workstations for walk-in use as well as lounge type seating for students. We continue to offer for-charge printing in this space. This summer, we also upgraded some of our classrooms to enhance the experience of our students and faculty with innovations that include Apple TV, new flexible furnishings and HD projection.

New on the Web

ATLAS has released two new department websites this summer.  Check out the Departments of Math and East Asian Languages and Cultures We want to thank all the staff in both departments that worked with us to update and move content and make the migrations a success.  If you are interested in learning more about ATLAS web services, please contact atlas-web@illinois.edu.

Reminder: Seeking LAS Online Course Proposals

ATLAS seeks proposals for new LAS Online courses to be developed in the January-June 2018 time frame. We invite faculty members to share their plans and propose the development of an online course by filling out a form at http://go.las.illinois.edu/developonline   or by contacting us at atlas-tlt@illinois.edu. For full consideration, please submit your plans by Wednesday, August 30.

ATLAS Care

ATLAS remains committed to ensuring that all of our faculty and staff have computers that are no more than 5 years old.  We have secured excellent quotes for business class desktops that ATLAS will purchase on behalf of our units.  Each year ATLAS will review the existing computers in each department and ATLAS will purchase a new one to replace the ones that meet the eligibility requirements.  Additionally new faculty hires will also be eligible to participate in the ATLAS care program.  Questions about this program can be directed to Dan Wood danwood@illinois.edu.

ATLAS Photo Roster

Be it a 1,200 student lecture hall or a thirty student computer lab, keeping all the names and faces straight can seem an overwhelming task. ATLAS Photo Roster can bridge these gaps and create an empowering environment for both students and faculty alike. ATLAS Photo Roster provides a simple to use, yearbook style format of photos to help instructors associate the names and faces of their students!

If you’re listed in campus data as an instructor in a course for a given semester – you don’t need any special access or permissions. Simply log in at the following link to view your photo rosters for this semester:

https://apps.atlas.illinois.edu/PhotoRoster/

Also, ATLAS Photo roster can generate email lists of students in the sections you instruct! If you have any questions about ATLAS Photo Roster or ATLAS Application Development applications in general, feel free to drop us a note at atlas-apps@illinois.edu!
