ACA/MRA Cancer Related irAEs Research Program

In recognition of the immense potential of checkpoint inhibition in combating multiple cancers and the reality that immune-related adverse events (irAEs) pose a challenge that, if addressed, could lead to better overall outcomes for patients and broader use, the American Cancer Society and the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) have partnered to support research leading to the reduction of irAEs and the improvement of overall outcomes for cancer patients treated with checkpoint immunotherapy. To that end, the two organizations have issued a Request for Applications for projects that test feasibility and generate preliminary data. MRA and ACS have each committed $1 million for the awards. The combined $2 million will be used to fund Multidisciplinary Team Awards and Pilot Awards.

Amount:          $200,000 Pilot Awards$

$ 1 Million Multidisciplinary Team Award

Innovative Ovarian Cancer Research Pilot Studies

Founded in 1996, the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research provides funding for innovative research pilot studies, including grants to up-and-coming investigators, for early detection screening for ovarian cancer, and for the production of nationally and internationally attended research symposia on ovarian cancer.

To advance this mission, the center has issued a call for applications for its 2018 Scientific Scholar Awards. Through the program, the center will award grants of up $120,000 over two years to promising laboratory and clinical scientists interested in pursuing a career as an independent investigator in ovarian cancer research. Funds are for direct costs only; institutional overhead and indirect costs will not be included in the award.

Eligible applicants must have an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, career goals focused on ovarian cancer, and, if a clinician, have completed their residency. Applicants should be at the post-doc/fellow, instructor, research assistant, or assistant professor level with no more than three to four years in any of these positions.
