Tax reform is on the way to becoming a reality. Like all major changes, the specter of reform raises concerns about how these changes will affect each of us, from our bottom line to our planning going forward. We won’t know what effect reform will have until Congress finishes its negotiations and finalizes its reconciliation—which it is expected to do before the month is over.

What we do know, however, is that there is still time in 2017 to make a gift that may lower your tax bill. Whether you give cash, appreciated securities, or roll over your required minimum distribution amount directly from your IRA to us (for donors over age 70½), you still have time to:

  • Make a significant difference for the University of Illinois, and
  • Enjoy the benefit of a 2017 charitable income tax deduction

What’s more, with income tax rates likely to drop next year, your 2017 deduction may have an even greater impact on your tax bill than it would if you waited until 2018 to support the University of Illinois.

If you want to make the most of your tax-wise giving, consider doing so before the end of the year. Please contact us to discuss how your year-end gift can help achieve our shared goals.

We encourage you to consult with your professional tax advisor regarding the deductibility of any charitable contribution.
