This announcement contains a compiled list of research funding opportunities from external and campus sources including some announcements that may not be broadly distributed due to the specificity of their focus. This is not a comprehensive list of all opportunities for research funding. New Funding Opportunities from External Sources

The OVCR frequently receives announcements and calls for proposals from external sources. This week's opportunities are listed below. Additionally, several federal agencies such as NIH, NEH, NSF, DOD, and DOE offer the ability to directly subscribe to their alerts. Links to these are provided at the bottom of this announcement and on the OVCR website.

  1. Call for Preproposals to the National Competitive Grants Program posted by NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF WATER RESOURCES AND U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY;
    Deadline: February 15, 2018

  2. Defense Enterprise Science Initiative (DESI) posted by DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE;
    Deadline: February 28, 2018

  3. Entrepreneurial Investing Initiative posted by CROHN'S & COLITIS FOUNDATON;

Campus Opportunities
  1. Center for Global Studies Request for Proposals for Title VI Center Renewal;
    The Center for Global Studies invites faculty, departments, and units to submit proposals that meet the anticipated priorities of the Title VI grant, including engagement of global history, perspectives of the human experience, global policy and education, and global security.
    Deadline: January 16, 2018

  2. European Union Center Request for Proposals for Title VI Center Renewal;
    The European Union Center invites faculty, departments, and units to submit proposals that meet the anticipated priorities of the Title VI grant, including European languages and cultures, EU and transatlantic policy issues, foreign language training, diversity and engagement with underrepresented minorities, strategic partnerships with European countries, and outreach efforts.
    Deadline: February 15, 2018
 
Announcements

Grant Funding Available Through Student Sustainability Committee
Using the funds raised through the Cleaner Energy Technologies Fee, the Student Sustainability Committee distributes grant funding to students, faculty, and staff that implement energy-saving projects on campus. These projects include everything from solar installations to educational workshops. Find full details here

International Travel Grant Funds Available
To strengthen faculty collaborations with Mexico and Israel, the System's Vice President for Economic Development and Innovation has established an international travel grant program. Applications are being solicited from faculty to support week-long visits to Israel or Mexico to explore strategic academic/economic development and innovative collaborations. Find more details on the program here.

NIH Clinical Trials Workshop
The National Institutes of Health have launched a series of initiatives related to clinical trials that affect grant funding, proposal development, and research administration. Learn more at a workshop from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12 at the Beckman Institute (Room 5602). Contact Patty Jones, Associate Director for Research, for more information.

Submit Presentation for Online Health Communication Conference
The second annual Health Communication Barriers, Breakthroughs, and Best Practices (HCB3) Online Conference on February 28 to March 2, 2018, will focus on web-based health information. Educators, graduate students, postdoctoral students, researchers, medical professionals, and professionals in all other health care fields should submit presentation proposals by January 30. Find more information here

 
Limited Submissions

Government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors often limit the number of proposals, applications, or nominations permitted from a single institution. The OVCR regularly distributes limited submission information. The current list is posted here (campus login required).
