Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund
2018 Spring Fundraising Drive

The Emergency Fund Needs Your Help!

The Emergency Fund has been there for your fellow employees in their time of urgent need. With your help it will continue to be a resource for you and your colleagues when crises arise.

For over 25 years the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund (FSEF) has helped more than 1000 employees with emergency assistance during financial crises. Due to your generosity, approximately $30,000 in grants was awarded to your fellow employees over the past year!

Current staff, academic professionals, and faculty members who have held a permanent, 50%+ position with the University of Illinois for the previous six months are eligible to apply for assistance if they are experiencing a temporary financial hardship due to an emergency situation.

One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to the University of Illinois Foundation for the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund, and is administered by Faculty/Staff Assistance Services (FSAS). Your gift, regardless of size, will provide much needed financial assistance to your fellow employees in times of crisis. Contributions can be made at any time of the year. Your gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.

A chronic illness of a spouse was further complicated by a cancer diagnosis of the  employee, resulting in mounting medical bills and a need for increased leave time. This put an undue hardship on the couple at a vulnerable time. The emergency fund grant enabled them to focus on their health and her recovery, and was greatly appreciated by the family.

When an employee’s spouse lost her job due to lack of funding, the family fell behind on their bills. The emergency fund helped the employee restore electricity to their home during the period of the spouse's unemployment.

When an employee’s home was destroyed in a fire, they were able to use a grant from the emergency fund to obtain temporary shelter and basic necessities until they could get back on their feet.

Last year's donations to the Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund drive increased by
7%!
We are very thankful for this generous response! The need was evident as the total amount in grants issued increased by 22% during that period.

Your gifts DO make a difference!

To keep pace with assistance requests, this year we have set a goal to increase donations by
8%. For as little as a $5 gift per month, you can help insure that a fellow co-worker in need will not be turned away.

Act now! You can make your gift by payroll deduction, online credit card payment, or personal check. Click on the link below for more information on the many ways to make your donation.
